 The Galway Arts Festival, one of Ireland's biggest and most exciting Summer festivals, celebrated its 20th anniversary this year. Be sure to stay tuned to this site for the 2000 Arts Festival Schedule to be released later. The Galway Arts Festival was founded in 1978 by Ollie Jennings and associates of the University College arts scene. The Galway Arts Society's first festival took place in April of that year and the aims and objectives of the week-long events were, and still are, to bring a wide variety of international acts to Galway and at the same time to feature the best of local and national talent.
